Shanxi History Museum
The museum is located in northwest of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, so visitors can easily pay a visit to the museum and the pagoda as they are all must-see sights in Xi’an, nobody will miss it. Not only as an exhibition place for the ancient Chinese history, but also as an evidence for the historical China, the museum was opened to public in 1991 and it is regarded as the first-class modern national museum in China!

What you can see in the Theme Exhibition Hall?
The theme exhibition hall is located in the west of the museum. The hall covers an area of over 2,500 square meters (26,909 square feet) and themed with different exhibition and historical relic such as the 'Shanxi Bronze Ware Exhibition', the 'Shaanxi Pottery Figure Exhibition' and the 'Buddhist Culture Relic Exhibition'.

The relics of the Shaanxi Pottery Figure Exhibition are shown to guests with the old Chinese dynasty order. From the Qin dynasty to the Ming, the figures are of different shapes which representing the old lives vividly. The military and civilian officials, servants, the Westfield people of Hu, the emperor, the holy creature pets protecting the royal tombs, the horses and camels, etc. You can not even believe that those pottery figures are so vivid and will feel amazed of the old workmanship of our ancient ancestors.

What is a jumping horse? No, it is not a jumping horse, it means a dancing horse. In Chinese, Hu means pot, how did the pot of dancing horse came into being? The story was attractive.The horse dancing is the most fantastic and amazing part in Chinese horsemanship, the blooms period for the activities was in the Tang dynasty (in which the ancient China reached its peak among countries).

It is said that the emperor Xuanzong was extremely fancy on the dancing horse show, for that reason, servants and flunky brought in the outer good horse and trained them to dance for a long time, just for a single smile of the emperor. The horse was well trained to perform some gestures with high difficulty like kneeling down, shaking hands and nodding, etc. After the cataclysmic of An Shi rebellion, one leader of the rebellion Lushan, An, crashed into the capital of Chang’an ( Xi’an ) and found the dancing horses left by the emporors, after the death of An, the horses were controlled by a military minister who did not know the existence of the dancing horse before, he thought they are just horses for wars,one day, the horses danced as the music was played in the camp, the stupid soldiers regarded them as the ghosts was making troubles and killed the horses, it was a pity but from that moment, the dancing horse was extinct in China.
